Yesterday my cheeky dog Compass, slipped past my feet into the garage. I suddenly saw her little cairn terrier tail dart past me, as if in a chase. Then the real commotion began. Yelling and shouting. No! The two cats were in the garage. Miso, who is no dummy, darted for the door. I am unsure how he found it open, but he did. All I saw of him was his two hind feet. His hind feet were stretched out in the air as he flew out the garage door. The orange cat, Mochi, he is another story. Mochi the cat is, dare I say, arrogant. There is no better term to use in describing him. It pains me. I love orange cats. They are usually, and I mean I have never met one that is not, docile and sweet. Not Mochi. Mochi is huge and hates Compass. He challenges her at every turn. He will tease Compass on her walks, closely following behind her, just near enough to drive her mad. He always has that superior cat look on his face. In this case and at last, at least in Compasses mind, Mochi was finally cornered. I do think Compass was rather surprised to find Mochi had grown so large over the past winter months. Their meetings before, in the past, Mochi had been a lot smaller. Sadly, Mochi was still lacking brains in his orange cat head. Compass was snapping at Mochi in the air. She was not tasting the air currents. Compass was trying to maneuverer in and get a good, tight grip on Mochi. That is how Compass works. She will wait until she gets a good grip then she will shake her prey until its end. If it had not been for our shouting at Compass, and our going after Compass to deter her, it may have ended badly for Mochi. Compass probably would have finally gotten that grip on Mochi, that she hoped to get. All by biting in the air at him. Mochi was too ridiculous to run or even wise enough to back down. If Compass had the opportunity, I am positive she would would have finally gotten that hold on Mochi. She would have shook Mochi as hard as her little body could manage. That would have been Mochis end. Remember the Cairn Terrier is bred to route and destroy varmints as large as even a fox. Anyway, that little dog can shake her prey, pretty hard and fast and very powerfully. But that did not happen to the orange prince. We finally coerced Compass into the house with treats and quick positioning by the front door. She kind of was forced to stop the fight. Afterward, Mochi acted totally ripped off. He sauntered out of the garage shaking his kingly tail, annoyed. He never once considered that that he should not have been in the garage to begin with. Back inside, Compass was giving everyone the sweetest, most charming looks, in the world. She desperately wanted back at that cat! One can't blame her. Mochi always taunts her. But Mochi is fine and so is Compass. I love Compass, no less. She is an admirable dog. She has proven time and again she will protect her pack and herself, with her very little mass. Mochi gets the love too, but only because he is beautiful and orange. He is also vilely, and stupid. I will keep them both. I am not even going to ask, can't we all get along? It is an illogical question in an illogical world. Better is, how do we get along without getting along? Mochi, in his orangeness will prowl around like a king as always, with his little brother in tow, and Compass will stay on a leash when he is around. I just hope for Mochi's sake, that a coyote does not try the same thing as Compass, because Mochi would not fair as well. Let me know what you think. Share the blog leave a comment!

Fierce little dog, I love her so much but I’m glad the prince lived too.
