Louise's Utopia: The Auction Gamble

Updated: Nov 17

Last week, I signed into an online auction. I loved it! With all the planting I plan to do this spring, I had my sights set on a hand tiller. What a pleasant surprise it was to find two new tillers, same models exactly, both inside their freights, at an auction for TMG. I watched them for a week and I did a little research into how much they cost at the store versus what I thought I would pay at an auction. I had my top dollar in hand and was ready to bid on auction day. I was brimming with excitement (as I wanted that thrill of bidding). I love auctions, so I bid on lots of items. I figure if I actually get them for the low amounts I put down, I'm doing pretty well. If I do not win the bid, I can seriously drive up the price and make my opponent have to really work for it! Yes, it may sound mean, but that's the game. Of course that can backfire, if I end up with an item I don't really need for a price I didn't want to pay. Remember to always stay within the budget set for the item. Back to the tiller- it was so much under what I was willing to pay when I initially logged into the auction. I started bidding on both tillers! I was thinking if I get them both it will still be less than one brand new from the store. These were both new, so I was very excited. I am not sure why both tillers closed at the same time. I thought that was somewhat a dumb idea for the auctioneer as they could have gotten the overflow had they staggered the tillers. In the end after the roar of joy of tossing money insanely at a computer screen, I won the bid! Wahoo! It was thirty bucks under what I wanted to pay. The other one was still in overtime when my tiller closed. For some reason a war began on the other tiller. Meanwhile they forgot about my tiller. So I won the bid and I was pleased with my perfect deal.

It has five and a half horsepower. The tiller is in the back, just like I was looking for. I love auctions so much. It was a lot of fun and just what I needed. Don't just go to a store if something is needed, check an auction first. Just make sure to preplan a price with someone first. Have them disconnect the internet on your computer if you are apt to go insane. That way once the max bid is in place there are no regrets. I have seen some people bid over what the cost of a store price would be for certain items. I think they lose their heads in the moment. However, I did not and I cannot wait to use this tiller and tear up some dirt. I will let you know how it goes later this spring, if the snow ever melts. :) I know it's going to because today was warm (for SD) and amazing and the snow was soggy! Please share the blog and leave a comment. Happy tilling!

I personally like a healthy amount of gambling, but your way seems better.
