In April of 2024 we began planting an orchard of apples in the west pasture. The project went very quickly and the apples are taking to the soil and seem to be very pleased with their new environment. We already have visions of apples falling into our buckets on the prairie. Six varieties of apples will be growing by the fall and over twenty-five apple trees will be in the ground. The first apple trees were Connell Red and Honeycrisp. There are more ordered and four different varieties to come. We are very excited to have this project underway and are enjoying every minute of planting this small orchard. 
Grape trellis systems have begun installation and grapes are ordered and on the way. We will have a monster amount of grapes and are very intrigued by what they will make the scenery change into. The land could never be made more beautiful but it is fun to try. Keep posted as we change the scene at Coteau Valley Farm in Sisseton, South Dakota. Apples and Grapes will make the world around us much sweeter and bring a lovely picture with them.
